Our Feuerring is protected by copyright as a work of applied art

In a recent judgement of 17 June 2022, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court confirmed that the Feuerring, created by Andreas Reichlin, is protected by copyright as a work of applied art. For the Federal Supreme Court, one of the decisive factors for copyright protection was that the Feuerring is not recognized by the general public as a barbecue grill at first glance, but rather as an artistic object that is new and unique compared to previously known forms. We are very pleased that the authenticity of the Feuerring, which has always existed due to being the first one of its kind, has now also been recognized by the highest Swiss court, providing the accolade of copyright protection and thus confirming that there is only one original.
